About Caucasian Shepherds
The Caucasian Shepherd is an extremely large dog, usually measuring between 36 to 39 inches high and weighing up to around 90kg, with the males being a lot larger than their female counterparts. Known to be an intelligent dog, they are highly prized as watchdogs although when these dogs are in a home environment they are calm and gentle loving nothing more than to be part of the family. Their natural guarding and protecting instincts are very strong.
Caring for your dog
As with any other breed, Caucasians and German Shepherds need to be groomed on a regular basis to make sure their coats and skin are kept in top condition. It’s in Spring and Autumn when they shed their coats the most but the good news is that they do not need any sort of specialist grooming.
You need to ensure dogs receive regular daily exercise to they remain fit and healthy. This means they need to be given as much outdoor time as possible, ideally around 60-80 minutes per day.
On top of this, dogs need to be fed good quality food that meets all their nutritional needs throughout their lives.
You must always adhere to the usual schedule of examinations and vaccinations recommended.
